Hacked out some quick and dirty pipe terrain for Necromunda ( for a game that ended up being cancelled....)
It was an easy project. Assembled random pvc pipe connectors and kids toy pipes, glued them to an old clipboard, spray primed a rusty brown, then stippled dollar store craft paints in various metallic and brown hues all over to give it a mottled rusty look. Poured a shitty green paint through the pipes and let it run for the sewer effect.By no means is it a display piece, but if you think you are too retarded to make functional terrain, try this one out.

I agree with this guy and the Casual WYSIWYG approach.
Build models that look cool, then assign them the stats of whatever similar looking weapon you want when you spend the creds to level up your gear.
The model with the pistol can start out with a stub gun and be upgraded to bolt pistol, plasma, whatever.
The guy with the axe and maul eventually becomes a guy with a power axe and power maul.
That way, you can have some power progression, but still keep clear visual representation for you and your opponents. If anyone truly gets pissy because a guy with a shotgun is statted as a guy with a combat shotgun, tell them to fuck off.

Also, don't do the Necromunda thing where gangers are married to their first weapon for life. That's retarded and everyone house rules it.
