>be me, innawoods with my friends on a long weekend
>we're chilling, smoking some weed, decide to go for a walk in the woods
>it's at my family cabin that i've been to every year of my life since i can remember, i used to explore the woods all the time and know the backwoods trails like the back of my hand
>to the north is a big ass lake, to the east are some mountains that block off a nature preserve, you have to hike off trail to get over them.
>to the south are some thick boreal woods that it's impossible to walk offtrail in, and then further south it all turns to bogland, marsh & swamp. impassable without proper gear
>the trail forms a belt around the lake so even if you get a bit disoriented you know you're never too far from the main road
>we're walking maybe 20 mins down a familiar trail, and I notice everything looks... different?
>different trees and plants than the swampy pine forest we've been walking through. they are deciduous and there is an open canopy. the ground is hard, dry and earthy and not soft and sandy like I'm used to
>we're on some kind of logging road, but it's impossible given that there is no logging in the region, and there's no vehicle access to the south because of said swamps and mountains
>we're no longer on the trail i know by heart, it's a logging road that seems to go on forever in a straight line with no end in sight
>internally freaking the fuck out, don't want to panic my friends and have them make some stupid decision
>feels like we've been teleported into a completely different biome
>tell friends i forgot something important back at the cabin, let's retrace our steps
>we end up walking back 1 hour through this logging road even though it had taken us 20 mins to get there
>we turn the corner and suddenly, we are back on the original trail
it's been about 10 years since this happened and i've looked for this logging trail both on satellite maps and doing trekking and i've never found it again, i think i was really teleported
