They are nearly the same mic, but 'tuned' slightly differently. And ofc the SM58 has a grill to help block plosives when singing/speaking. Chartism attached, the 57 has a lift around 6-7 khz which in 'normal' singing would enhance sibilance but on harsh vocals sounds gud.
