You started making a valid point, but then brought up GWM - a feat mathematically inferior to Savage Attacker for Paladins. Assume Nyrulna is dipped in fire. That's 4d4 (Dipped in Fire, Strange Conduit, Soul Branding) + 2d6 (base one-handed weapon damage, Nyrulna's thunder damage) + 5d8 (Improved Divine Smite) damage per attack, which Savage Attacker increases by 0.625*4+0.972*2+1.313*5 ≈ 11 on average.
(See https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Savage_Attacker#Notes.)

Not only is Savage Attacker's bonus damage higher than GWM's flat +10 damage in this case, but the feat doesn't incur an accuracy penalty, and you can double these dice on a critical hit. For an elf player character, you could even stack Booming Blade to widen the gap. In contrast, GWM's value decreases dramatically the higher the enemy's AC, and the higher your critical hit chance (it's 100% if you land Hold Monster, by the way). In conclusion, Mintharafag's original assessment of the pros and cons was correct and Nyrulna is the better weapon for Paladins. Do you understand?
