I did a shartless run and went to Vicky TheDevil's house. I passed a check over the artefact then told her Shart is dead(no other option), she got angry and had to roll a DC30. I had 4 rerolls and party aid so I got that too. Then the companions acted like I betrayed her. Goddamn she steals my thunder even if she is outside of the story. I also staked Astarion and stuffed him in my camp box and he wasn't zombified so I had all the time in the world to kill Caz but he also acts like he retrieved him. Doesn't matter the game accounted for this shenanigan so all good.
I feel a little bad for Orin. The more you learn about her backstory, her father and Bhaal's involvement in her childhood, you learn that she basically had no chance, and much of what she is today is dictated by them. I wonder what could have been. She could have been an actor, or a famous acrobat, or something, if she was allowed to be normal. She has a flair for the dramatic and is passionate in what she does, she was just molded into a weapon.
Instead, we have to put down a rabid animal. No sense in spending too much time thinking about what could have been.
One of the recurring themes in bg3 is bad influences and authority figures abusing those around them, and whether the person can escape the cycle of abuse or not. Half the villains and most of the party follow this theme.

Act 1 really doesn't have a traditional boss since everything is optional, so Grym and W'wargaz are the best closest answers.

I did adopt a kid with Wyll though so I suppose I can count myself among an extremely small portion of the BG3 population. In every other playthrough where I romanced Wyll we went to hell with Karlach so no kiddo. In this playthrough the host was romancing Karlach and because I was romancing Wyll he was never part of the equation for that which I thought was interesting.

So I'm playing a Tiger Heart Barbarian and just hit level 4, and need to choose a feat. My party has BOOOAL's Benediction, so the advantage I can spam would make Great Weapon Master hit pretty reliably, but I also noticed something else. Athlete seems like it would be ridiculous on this character and essentially let my dude fly around the battlefield cleaving people. Am I going to be too gimped without GWM until 8? Are there non-2H weapon options that are good with Tiger Hearts cleave attack?

one of the most frustrating things in this game are class/primary stats dictating if the dialogue rolls are going to be succesful or not.
like, if you're a barbarian you will fail in Intuition/Persuasion tests 90% of the time, and if you want to go a specific way about it, you have to reload save god knows how many times. i suppose you can make a high charisma strength based character but then he falls off in combat anyway.

What are your must-have mods? I haven't used a single mod in my first playthrough, so I'd like some recommendations for a modded run.

I am looking forward to any adventure mods though. I've seen some great work in progress updates of a few mods featuring new voiced companions, new worldspaces, and new questlines. Those sort of mods are very exciting.

Okay I've restarted my game and properly setup this mod, it's actually insane how much more difficult the fights become, there's a bunch of other mods to install, mostly things that change it to 1:1 5e rules.
If you're going to install this read the page first and the article attached to the mod.
You need things like 5e Spells, Expansion and a few other mods, but honestly its a lot of fun, kinda aggravating but in a good way. Also I've adjusted the level curve of the Expansion mod so I gain levels a bit quicker, I literally just divided the xp required for each level by 2 all the way up to 20.
When you have it set up with the other mods as well that are in the article (the equipment mod), it really just makes it feel a lot fresher, definitely difficult but not too difficult. I was thinking there was a bug which made it so my ranged attacks had to go to melee range but it was just because the mobs kept color spraying my party to hell. I really do recommend this if you've played through like ten times already. Kinda makes you see how dumbed down the combat was prior.

4. Press T to examine creatures and see what resistances and features they may have. Having a wide variety of damage types in your party is generally a good idea. You never know when you'll run into a floating ball that can shrug off most forms of damage except thunder. Be conscious of the terrain and use it to your advantage. A lot of somewhat difficult fights can be trivialized by just getting to the high ground and using your ranged attacks.
5. A lot of experience comes from non-combat. Explore and take things slowly to level up. Resolving potentially hostile situations awards the same experience as if you killed everyone (though you do miss out on the loot). Don't pick up a fight with a level 5 Paladin and his friends unless your team is level 5+ as well.

My girlfriend and I started playing Baldurs Gate 3 yesterday, in COOP mode. It was definitely rather complicated at the start, but we played for 6 hours until 3AM, so that's definitely a good sign, that we both really like the game.
I got a ton of questions to be honest, but the most glaring right now is this one:
My girlfriend plays a Druid, the one that can transform into a bear at level 2. Yesterday when we arrived at the Grove we went shopping for new weapons. We bought a bunch, but whenever she equipped any of them, she got incredibly low damage. 1-7 to be exact. For reference, my Paladin with the new axe I bought did 7-13. We tried several weapons, swords, a morning star, a spear and an axe, all did absolutely pitiful damage. And we can't tell why, but maybe you do?
I think she finds it really hard to play as a Druid too, is it a hard beginner class? Mostly she just shoots with a crossbow at distance and she has a very powerful ice spell, but can only use it once, so she is really frustrated. I tell her to maybe just transform into the bear and attack enemies like that, since the bear does a lot of damage but she says it's really boring because he can only run and hit with his paws.

Playing origin Astarion as a Barbarian, trying to build him as a vampire warrior. I went Wildheart (tiger) to focus on applying bleeding, and managed to get BOOOAL'S BENEDICTION on all 4 party members by pickpocketing the sickle and passing a persuasion check. I also grabbed athlete at level 4, so my jumping is insane; I can pretty much get anywhere I need to.
After level 6 when you get the next barbarian subclass feature, is it worth sticking single class or is it better to multiclass? I could see things like fighter or gloomstalker being interesting fits, and also considered shadow monk. What would be the most thematically fitting and mechanically fun multiclass?
