I dunno, man. Looking at wikipedia, it seems like only two ships hit Iranian mines after the USN showed up, and one of those happened on the first day of our involvement. Admittedly, the second was more of a fuckup (being the USS Samuel B. Roberts) but we got lucky and there weren't any fatalities and the ship returned to service the next year.
It's not obviously a great job, but "shit"?
