In general I share that sentiment, but when it comes to ethics I believe women can at least in principle compete on eye level. But in particular, I believe the feminine element isn't really that misplaced when it comes to having a certain regard for the weakest of all the sentient beings -- animals. Women are naturally the nurturing gender, and it's really fitting a woman is writing about stuff like that.
