CCP likes to hype up new lore shit, like Caroline's Star, the Autothysian Lancers, Turner exploding, the Trigs etc only to do nothing with them after they initially release/start the event.
the Lancers are supposed to be like drifters or jove going around space scanning out stuff trying to learn about us. when they first started appearing in space random Jove listening post structures started decloaking in space and we noticed that stargates in jove space all went offline.
Also they were killing people that had corpses in their cargo hold and scooping up player's corpses in space, so there were theories going around that their own bodies had decayed so much that they needed to collect fresh ones for something.
then nothing happened.
what CCP are good at doing though is foreshadowing stuff in the lore and in-game events years and years ahead.
like the bobcut hair bitch that runs Gallente has been slowly weaseling her way up the ranks in Gallente politics in articles since 2010, and the Deathless with the whole Zarzakh thing have been mentioned on and off since 2012.
Serious lorefags love to do picrel connecting shit from random loredump articles and other clues posted years ago to theorycraft shit that's about to come out.
If its the kind of stuff that interests you there's heaps of videos and such online of people looking for these kind of hints and trying to piece together stuff.
