Warhammer IS a "torrent of generic tropes", isn't it? the only difference is that the tropes are re-explained within the cosmology, metaphysics and history of the warhammer world.
So djinn shouldn't be a completely new thing but closer to what we already know as magical spirits and demons, the flying carpets may be related to the next closest thing to them (disc of tzeentch?) and I guess araby should have a history and magical traditions deeply interlinked with nehekhara, but that would be it.

A cool visual identity beats a thousand TRVE warhammer gimmicks anyway.
