Yes, The Final Horizon has Sage simulate that the plan in the base game isn't optimal (for some reason) and so she convinces Eggman and Sonic to agree to an alternate, harder plan that involves having Sonic's friends take over. I guess she's right since fighting the final boss while it's off-guard leads to a slightly happier ending I guess, but honestly not much ultimately changes. I prefer the main-game final battle, not-Hyper Sonic can kiss my ass.
