Pokemon has a more widely appealing concept than other monster taming series. Its casts a wide net. It's like 'theres an app for that' depending on what your looking for you can find it in pokemon. Its like how you can point to a pokemon and say 'digimon design' but you can never point to a digimon and say 'pokemon design'. Pokemon can provide what digimon does and more, but digimon only provides digimon. Its why the fandom is so divisive, because it appeals to many different people who butt heads with what they want pokemon to be. Here's some examples.
