I taught Zoomers for years. Their parents screwed them over by handing them a tablet before they turned 3. So many lacked the attention span to even read a paragraph. Fried brains from such a young age, and their worst behaviors were enabled at every turn. If I blame anyone, I blame boomers and the soft-parenting gen-x'ers.

I have no doubt that you are right about this. It's why I went into a field that will always be in demand (health care) and recommend it to others who are in the neet pit and want to get out but have no idea where to start. But it's scary, because now that I work in health care, I see all these people who lack compassion for others just doing it to pay their bills, and I get nervous that one day I'll be the patient needing care, and the person on the other end of the table is gonna be some zoomzoom who doesn't give a shit and can't be bothered to even lock in and listen to what I'm saying for two minutes.

The entire system just makes me very sad. It's why on my time off, I immerse so deeply in fantasy. I'll play mmorpgs like this one, watch shows based in other worlds, create other worlds of my own and host tabletops, etc. This reality is kinda bleak outside of a few glimmers of goodness.
