>not just 'buying' territory
Everything I've heard about the new diplo treaty system implies it is legitimately the most imbalanced addition to the game they could have managed to come up with. You make bs promises like "yeah, I won't tariff this good that matters to neither of us" to the AI and then get shit like free territory in exchange. Either they were wearing the proverbial dunce cap when they came up with this or they rushed it out with no playtesting. Its also yet another example of the devs clearly only thinking about the multiplayer angle, where player-player interaction and house rules limit the wildest uses of this feature, while ignoring singleplayer refinement.
