Is there way to avoid this from happening? The edges have to be same material as shaft? It's bad if either material is stronger than the other (i think in picrel the edges are plastic, and shaft might be some shiny metal?)?

I would imagine the gliding that SPro2 does (not touching the edges) solves this problem
