Schopenhauer argued against hedonism, that's a major (perhaps main) point of his philosophy - chasing pleasures is fool's endeavour, because with each desire satisfied, two new ones pop up.
He also didn't recommend suicide in any way, just refused to condemn it as was the standard at the time.
What he argued in favor of was suppressing the Will (chiefly manifested by mating drive) by immersing oneself in artistic appreciation, creativity, and/or intellectual research. His own way to go about that was a flute and philosophy.
