Self-insert protagonists and their consequences have been a disaster for gaming. Now chuds think that if NPCs are not bending over backwards for your character and kissing the ground you tread on that's a "humilliation ritual". Hell having to put work into a romance route and risk saying something wrong and failing, instead of female characters throwing themselves at you just for existing, is a humilliation ritual too. Look, I get wanting to play games purely for escapism. But it's like these dudes want to play as Mary Sues where the only characters allowed to disagree with the MC must be villains and the game must make it clear that they're in the wrong for not seeing how perfect and awesome MC is.
