This was peak irony poisoning years. I don't even know when exactly it happened but sometime around 2011 and 2012, everyone went from actually finding trollface and cat memes funny, to screaming shit like ''le epic maymay for teh win!'' thinking they were any less obnoxious than the redditors who drove that shit into the ground.
It's probably worse now for different reasons, but that era of 4chan is the one that will always piss me off the most.

When it comes to playing with /v/irgins I've always had pretty good luck though, because I only play old games with small communities of tired 35 year olds.
