Yeah you probably wont achieve the extinction of all sentient life by not reproducing. Does that mean it doesn't make difference to anything? Obviously not. By reproducing you create one more life of pain and suffering, and by not reproducing you prevent that one life from happening. There is a very significant difference. Just like by choosing not to steal and not to murder other people you don't stop stealing and murder altogether in the world, but you still do something good and the world is better off because of your choice.
