most NPC's just get hooked on addictions, compulsions and tribalism to numb themselves to the reality of their situation. i say NPC's but I am guilty of burying my head in the sand as is everyone because living is inherently compromising. you know how it'll end, and you know it'll all be for naught and yet you keep going because there is no real alternative. life is beautiful as an experience but you spend most of your human life in urban hellscapes slaving away. at least shos keep the dread at bay..
