It's funny because right now the main Marvel event is about Dr. Doom taking over the world by tricking Stephen Strange into giving him the role of Sorcerer Supreme...and actually, the world is OK with it, and repeatedly shits on the Avengers and Fantastic 4 for getting in the way. Mainly because the Avengers are so stupid their immediate responses to anything Dr. Doom does are 1. barge in and start brawling, and 2. team up with actual supervillains to try to bring Doom down because he MUST be up to something! Consequently catching civilians in the crossfire. The story even goes out of it's way to show contrary to the Avengers' assumptions, instead of mind controlling world leaders Doom just accelerates time to have long conversations with them over the course of a single night (kind of like Santa, but...the opposite) and just get them to cut a deal with him. And by all indications, it's working. The majority of Marvel is currently pro-Doom and anti-Avengers, to the extent that Strange Academy (Dr. Strange's very own school for magical students) just kind of rolled with being under new management, while Dr. Strange himself has escaped to Asgard and hasn't even bothered trying to do anything to Doom.

So far the biggest hurdle Doom has faced is Dormammu coming over and almost beating him to death because Doom dismissed the mystic precautions as a low priority while taking over the world, forcing Doom to summon the Avengers to distract Dormammu long enough to banish him. And he still managed to turn that into a net PR plus for himself.

Don't blame that anon. Marvel itself is going out of it's way to present Doom as the lesser evil.
