I was looking at portable AC/dehumidifier units about 3-4 years ago with that terrible summer. Even the most expensive ones there were very loud, especially the dehumidifiers.
I don't mind noise too much as long as it's not too high pitched, some deep droning sounds are rather soothing to me but nah those things just killed.
