Mei still was cowardly about it story-wise. The script a few times even had Rika and Satoko admiring each other's appearances something you never get in the OG VN or Gou/Sotsu, like the narration going on about Satoko being drawn by Rika's eyes and such. Even had a story near the ending comparing College Mion being jealous and insecure about Keiichi with high school Rika being jealous and insecure about Satoko. Rika and Satoko talk a lot about still living together in the future and not letting the world split them... but they didn't show or even mention Satoko and Rika at all in the final 1993 epilogue, leaving things completely blank on that side. The final cast party also said the Mei St.Lucia stuff was just a possibility and not necessarily tied to the main plot (so, the reader can believe it went on like that, or not).
