Feeling satiated is about the same volume of food. The difference between eating 10 oz of caloric dense slop and washing it down with a coke, instead of eating 10 oz nutrient dense and non caloric dense and washing it down with water is immense. Convenient food is often packed with calories, and leaves a lot of nutrition off the table. Eat three meals a day? When every one of those meals is 1000 calories and leaves you just as hungry as it’s equivalent in weight as a meal with 600 calories, you will become a fat ass. This is a daily regime for (now) most people. Losing weight is much more difficult than gaining weight, so people often give it a try for about a week then give up when the scale or appearance hasn’t changed quickly enough. Nobody likes hearing it can take a year or longer to lose their beer belly, so deeper into the hole they go.
