There is no point in history where you can remake a game but still decide it's a good idea to re-use a background pre-rendered for a 480p display. Even if they remade it it for the PS3 it would have looked like shit to just pick up the same backgrounds and re-use them one to one. They would have to remake the backgrounds literally no matter when the game was remade.

Why the everloving fuck would they remake a game on the same platform it originally came out on, let alone in fucking 2006 when the PS2 was already 6 years old? You realize this game came out, like, a few months before the PS3 right?
