That sounds like prime origin story material. Like Wei decides that he's going to honor his brother's memory by becoming a warrior just like him. Only because he doesn't know it was all made up, he actually goes and learns from a proper source, then becomes a properly skilled fighter. Then somehow he learns that Shu was murdered and sets out to get revenge on his brother's killer.

Alternatively, you could make really good drama out of that. Imagine if Wei's mother took him to grief counseling, then he ended up in the same support group as Kanako, and they became friends. Imagine how Ceroba would feel watching her daughter sit next to Wei while she shares stories about Chujin and he shares stories and Shu in return. All the while she alone knows that this is all her fault.

Or, third option, a murder mystery where Detective Columbone investigates Shu's death.
