I was talking in terms of looks. It looks much better than those sleeve legs the Rangers have. I'm not sure the rotation being below the knee is any worse than if it had been above. Seems like a lateral thing to me. It will be better for some poses and worse for others.
The villains clearly have scaled back articulation compared to the Rangers since they're unique molds. I'd say that's probably why the Putty has ball hips, because it's a simpler manner of doing hip articulation compared to swivel hinges. Playmates just doesn't seem to understand that the way they do swivel hinge hips is significantly worse than a simple ball joint, and that their consumers would be much happier with ball joints.
