time has proven that no one wants to be in comms coordinating with strangers if at all possible. casual and casual competitive players will never do that, they already don't do that right now and they have never done that. people will either stack and comm or they will solo and not comm, the very few true competitive players who don't mind coordinating in voice chat are a very small percentage of the playerbase. the game being based around heavy teamwork and synergy is a delusion, it might be that way in high level play but in reality that is inaccessible to 99% of the playerbase, even for the people who ARE willing to communicate because they often end up being alone in voice chat.
my conspiracy theory is that 5v5 was not only an attempt to reduce queue times but also to make the game less teamwork based and make it easier for better players to carry teams. they should make more changes like that unironically.

rivals is more casual but honestly the only reason that's true is because of marketing and the IP. the nature of the game means coordination is more important, not less. overlapping 2 support ults is literally just a free lost fight unless someone bails your team out with mag ult or something, the potential for solo plays is also almost nonexistent so mistakes matter much more. rivals is even more guilty of being too team oriented than overwatch is and it will cost it most of its playerbase eventually.
