Mostly about as standard as FF5 for most of the beginning of the game. Things of note early game is that thief can actually do some solid damage while stealing and spell fencer is fun in that it turns any melee of your choosing into a physical black mage. When you get the lategame jobs is when things start getting interesting. Salve-maker is an item using job that can mix items to create new effects, this job can do ANYTHING you need and bends almost everything to the game to your favor if you know what you are doing and have the appropriate items. Spiritmaster on the other hand is a “white mage” with a crapton of defensive support options that can even trivialize the game entirely to the point were the enemy does zero damage to you while you can freely do damage to the enemy.

What makes this game fun is the first job you get: Wizard. Wizard feels like it was inspired by Scholar from FFXI. It can modify any magic spell no matter what it is, in different ways. Heres the list of all spellcraft modifications so you see what I mean and this works with any type of magic, astrologian buffs, black magic, white magic, bishop magic, time magic, anything can be modified

>octopath
Octopath 1 is pretty standard as far as job based games go but alfyn, the apothecary can do similar things to what the salve maker in BD could do.
Octopath 2 improves the jobs from octopath 1 to be more interesting, i particularly liked the changes to Scholar which was just a standard black mage in the first game and alfyns compounding remains through castti though in a less broken format as alfyn didn’t need to “boost” his compounding recipes
I really don’t understand why this stupid posting cooldown activates multiple times when I try to make multiple posts, it is very annoying.
