Genuine question here, not totally unrelated.
Why do we need to have "License Plate Registration Tags"(the kind that change colors every couple years), when it's basically all done 'electronically', right? Like, don't cop cars/street lights have visual scanners that can automatically detect when a car nearby has expired tags?
For example, some hoodlums accidentally misplaced my tags and (presumably) placed them onto their car. I recently got a ticketed-warning-note that basically says :
>just a heads up, the system says that your vehicle is registered/tagged, but you're missing the sticker on the plate, so you need to get the sticker or you'll get a ticket
Which is cool I suppose, I'm not mad at a warning per se...
but I am just kind of curious if we're approaching the possibility where we collectively agree that actually, maybe it would make sense to consider lifting the requirement for 'must display sticker on license plate' ordeal?
