Don't listen to anyone, get full squads of basic patapons, don't use rain miracle but you probably know that already, use chaka chaka when he does something funny.
If you're talking about the 2nd worm boss then you can wait until you get a cook later in the game and make it much easier by using soups.
The whole game can be beaten with normal patapons, soups and good drumming.
For this battle, your army should look kinda like picrel.
Grinding is of course an option and will make things much easier.
