I have watched 2 anime this weekend
Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii (The World is Still Beautiful) and BNA: Brand New Animal

The World is Still Beautiful came out in 2014 but the art style looks like an early 00s anime, the characters all do those goofy expression and the colors are really muted, the story is a princess gets sent to marry a shota who has taken over the world since ascending to the throne, her family has the ability to use rain magic and the prince lives in a desert nation, there's some light shota baiting but otherwise its more of a comedy with a brief serious arc in the middle, the romance is kind of shallow because its only 12 episodes but the art style and setting add to the atmosphere, highly recommended

BNA I avoided for a long time as the weird japanese furry anime, but it was far less furry than expected, they're in human form aside from the main character most of the time, the plot is pretty standardized, the main girl gets in to trouble with some part of the city, the wolfman saves her, we learn a bit more about how different people are connected and that there's some plot going on in the background, the series seems like it would be political dealing with refugees and racism but it kind of never really says anything, if anything its the moist stoic (in the non meme modern way) anime ever to exist the characters in the show have no way of affecting the things that happen they just kind of have to react and that's how all of the politics in it are, everything is forced and no one really ever says anything worthwhile, the animation is cute though as expected of trigger, lightly recommended the concept is still cool even if underbaked, maybe jap furries are just more tolerable than western furries
