Rachel from Tower of God is a selfish cunt and a shitty person, but she still has a lot going on with her as a character that's worth following. The story doesn't demand that I love her or even like her. She's a shitty person, and the story doesn't try to change that.
And now compare that to Minami from Hokkaido Gals. The story really REALLY wants me to love her. Like, love her in the same way I would love a girlfriend irl. Yeah there's some romcoms I do quite like such as Fragrant Flower, but I very rarely get interested in the genre
