That's the vast majority of stereotypes. I'm active in the history scene and I hear "generals in WW1 were retarded" all the time, but each time I ask them to name a couple, it's always the same one or two, with the majority of them being seen as geniuses. Outside of the two "bad generals" every time you look at most of them they were pretty decent commanders, but every single time it's treated like an exception, except you have more exceptions than the "rule."
