iX1's antagonist team would have been ripe for a "flipping to your side" narrative. Too bad that iX was still in the grimdark period of the franchise. iX2 was the first game where you didn't have to kill anyone (shutting down the Hanging Gardens does kill them, but you can avoid that in the Hard Mode good ending, excepting Mother, who wanted to die, and Ypsilon).
