>To be clearly, you're talking about that 2008's Russian with nude ladies?
Yes, the very same.

>Is it good?
That is not an easy question to answer. It's absolutely unique, extremely clever, it broke a LOT of new grounds, and the only game that really pushed the medium further was Pathologic 2 which was made by the same people and drew a lot of inspiration from it.

At the same time... most people will find it essentially unplayable. It's incredibly janky, insanely obtuse, absurdly hard and unfair and just confusing.

Everything it does has a purpose and a point, but that does not change the fact that it's often just straight up unpleasant to play. Most people will not stick around for long enough to get to the point where it starts to make sense and come together.
And even when it comes together... it's still not a pleasant experience. It's a game about pain and dread, and it's really good at genuinely capturing those emotions through gameplay... but it's still an exercise in very unpleasant emotions. Most people have enough of those IRL and will not see much value subjecting to them in what is supposed to be entertainment.

Sorry if all of this sounds too vague or pretentious, but it's not an easy game to talk about. It literally does not fall into any established genre, it's just completely different from what games are expected to do.

I love it. For people like me, it's one of the best games ever made. I'm masochistic and obsessed with surrealism, dreams and melancholy, and I'm fascinated with the theory of how games can convey stories or themes. But... I absolutely understand why most people will hate it. It's a valid complaint to say that you don't see how games making you confused and miserable is something to praise. And this game is entirely designed around making you feel confused and miserable.

The Motherfucking Void.
Seriously, it's a translation of existential dread into a gameplay-focused experience. It's nuts. It literally convey's its themes of desperation and loss of hope into actual core gameplay mechanics.
Also, listen to it.

Nobody can make a depressive videogame like Russians can.

It's insane, but it's also pretty damn challenging and fairly clever, if you don't mind being cryptic as fuck.
