/trv/ meme. The country has many shortcomings from a traveler's perspective, most glaringly in the food & attitude department. Only in Poland would a property owner blatantly disregard my prepaid reservation and leave me sleeping on a bench, or get furious and use abusive language toward a guest because his messages weren't getting through the day before. Only in Poland is the freaking McDonalds seen as a desirable place to eat instead of the lowest tier of goyslop. Only in Poland do produce vendors get butthurt when a customer inspects their offerings for quality and ripeness. Only in Poland are park walkways strewn with shards of broken glass. Reliable public transport and plentiful green spaces are where this country shines, but that's it. Poland is definitely less of a high-trust society than Thailand or Malaysia. Cash registers have a locking lid here that blocks the customer's view of the contents, and bicycles are always secured with hefty locks.
