Math isn't fundamentally different. There's lots of kids who have been raised with the exact thing you're describing, their parents giving them access to whatever they want and then just letting them freely choose what to study and when to do it. There's countless tragic stories of people with kids who are six, eight, ten years old and are asking 'when is my child going to really learn to read?'. I'm very happy for people who have had this kind of learning work for them, I'm one of them. I did a lot of self-directed learning as a kid. We should have more of that for children. We cannot have just that for children, I'm sorry.
Anyways, fillies! Fillies are great because they have pony teachers who are genuinely invested in their learning and they're encouraged to go learn on their own because Equestria's great.
