something similar happened to me yesterday playing as Recluse, in one run I got two ultra greatswords from a chest at the start of the run and in another I got a legendary STR weapon. there must be something written in the game's code that makes the game drop fantastic loot but for a character the player is not currently using, Fromsoft would definitely do some cheap shit like that.
