How to define "the national interest" is always up for debate, but there are bigger stakes here than just Israel but reordering the Middle East by cutting Iran down to size, destroying its proxies and nuclear program, and sealing the deal on the Abraham Accords (and you know Trump and MBS talked about taking out Iran's nuke program while he was there), while undercutting Russia and especially China in the region. American foreign policy elites DO see that in American national interests since it's also the thing that will build a regional system that will start to handle itself (while also buying hundreds of billions of dollars in U.S. weapons) so we can shift resources to the Pacific.
Both Trump and Bibi really want this and obviously the role of Israel is central to that, but the idea that the Israel Lobby singularly controls U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East isn't really the case and there are bigger, structural, and strategic interests involving American power involved here. And I'm saying this so you'll better be able to actually understand what is happening, and what's going to happen.
