I don't think the "gamers become needlessly politically polarized" point can be overstated enough. Prior to GG, we were a mostly apolitical group. You had some fringes nipping at us from the left and right, and there were some political video games like Metal Gear Solid or Deus Ex, but more or less it was a completely apolitical space. Almost every game franchise had hot women as a given. Heterosexuality was the norm and maybe 1 out of 1,000 characters were gay, and usually they didn't have a fellow faggot to fuck. Humor was aimed at anyone of any race, gender, or creed. Most controversies were related to devs making shit games or game journos giving wacky review scores.

Then GG happened and everything changed. Game journos declared war on gamers. They somehow roped Western developers into their grift and started adding a bunch of ugly women and minorities everywhere. They introduced the Body Type 1/2 bullshit that everyone hates. The collusion was exposed so no one trusts game journos anymore and everyone switched to watching YouTubers/Streamers for info on games. Millions of gamers became politically activated leading to a huge resurgence in right wing parties globally, with most right wing parties actually having a lower average voter base age than every other party, whereas before you'd regularly see left wing politicians appealing to gamers instead of right wing.
