Anita Sarkeesian was just some basic feminist with a useless degree who teamed up with a male feminist called Jonathan McIntosh to start a web series called Feminist Frequency. It wasn't very popular, and even among the few people who watched it wasn't particularly well liked due to Anita's bizarre and rigid feminist values* and constant research mistakes.
* Anita is somewhat infamous in certain circles for only liking very specific female character archetypes. Her college paper is basically one big Joss Whedon blowjob, you know, the Buffy creator who was canceled for being a sexual creep some years back.
Anyway, she and her series blew up when she launched her campaign on Kickstarter to fund a series called "Tropes vs. Women in Video Games". It's pretty well known that she faked harassment from 4chan and the like in order to garner sympathy and pity, and the plan worked without a hitch. Journalists everywhere made her out to be a hero because was during the "gamers need to do better" era, and her campaign ended up raising 160k dollars.
I think everything since then has been well documented - she got a way into the industry and was paid quite a bit for consultancy to the point of appearing at the UN, so Anita hired an ugly tranny and an ugly black chick to work for her at FF. Eventually she bit off more than she could chew when she started railing against violent video games (which makes the industry lodsofemone), so the big companies dropped her. She eventually canceled Tropes vs. Women in Video Games due to "a lack of passion", and her co-writer Johnathan fucked off due to constant arguments between the two (one example: Jon wanted to actually rebutt potential arguments in their videos, but Anita declined because "muh good faith") and he ended up starting his own YT channel. I think Feminist Frequency eventually became a non-profit and now doesn't exist anymore, but don't quote me on that. That's it in a nutshell.
