>I home cook every meal and I'm still 20-30lbs overweight at any given time. Even 3 day or 7 day fasts each month can't seem to shed this extra tonnage. Really must be something in the air/water. Or I'm just too sedentary. Or both.
You'd probably lose less than 4 pounds of pure mass by not eating anything for seven days (only drinking water/calorie free electrolytes)... so if you're 30 lbs overweight... 30x3600cals = 108,000 calories you'd need to cannibalize... I'd estimate your daily caloric maintenance while sedentary and in a fasted state would hover around 2000 averaged out for the entire duration... so you'd essentially need to eat nothing and fast for 54 days or nearly 2 months to lose approximately 30 pounds of pure mass. About 20% of lost mass would be protein (a good amount derived from muscle tissue and elsewhere). So 24lbs of pure fat lost and 6lbs of pure protein lost. The scale would show a greater reduction in weight due to water loss. Once you resumed consumption of carbs, you'd regain 5lbs of water weight at least... maybe more.
