fucking hate how it’s seemingly always a mix of politicians who don’t know jackshit about the internet and politicians who know full well it’s not going to work but wants to do it anyway for other political reasons. Here in Europe they’ve been wanting to do age verification and force encrypted mail and message services into handing over user data when asked. feels insane just reading about it
