People seriously underestimate just how insanely difficult it can be to kinetically destroy incoming AShMs, especially sea skimmers. DECM is your best friend, and sometimes that isn't enough.
Say what you want about the Soviets/Russians, but they had (likely still have, to an extent) some seriously gifted engineers, especially in the rocketry field. SS-N-12s, SS-N-19s, and AS-4s are all extremely capable missiles and would absolutely ruin your day if a salvo gets fired at you.
