It was formed because non-whites got sidelined as guests at cons because there's less demand for them in the community as a whole (most people want Japanese industry guests the most), which was something that was sorta talked about for a while until San Japan's organizer said the quiet part out loud (picrelated). Now we got this blerd hugbox which I personally think was started with good and proper intentions (now they can have all the POC guests they want and there's no "discrimination"), only for it to devolve into the "well, well, well" chimpouts and fights you see on Twitter a few years after being founded. They keep changing their venue every couple of years too, I basically learned from this thread that it's now in Houston and not in Austin anymore.
