It's still an improvement in my book. My complete layman take is that it's important that the hair color change is kept far away from the face. The different eye colors wouldn't look too bad if the contrast was more in line with what you'd see in real life heterochromia cases. Red and blue is just too stark a contrast for that to work I think.
