Does Zangief have a single good matchup in this game? I'm not sure I understand why he's considered top tier when it seems like he basically loses against 90+% of the roster and lacks all of the basic tools that seem to be required for being a "good" character in this game.
He's got all the usual downsides of a big body character, but I'm not really seeing any of the usual benefits of playing a big body.
He's slow, easy to whiff punish, he's got back walk speeds, bad dashes, bad drive rush, probably the worst anti-airs in the game, and his buttons don't even have good range anymore now that they've nerfed his hurtboxes in a way that effectively just reduced the relative range of everything he does.
Is Zangief actually just dogshit outside of having a command grab that does like 33% damage if you spend meter? What makes him so "good"? Is it just a combination of the drive system being broken regardless of who has access to it and the threat of SPD, so literally nothing else about him needs to even be functional and people would still call him Top 3 just because he has access to the drive system + SPD?

This is true, but the way gooners flood every discussion about these games with posts about how much they wanna jerk off with each other, I do tend to groan when I see hot women in games now because I know threads about the game will be insufferable.
I never had issues with it in the past because people weren't so brain rotted before, but these days the overwhelming amount of gooners and the shitty way they talk about things does kind of make blatant sex appeal turn me off of a game. Games have always had sexy women, but it wasn't the only thing people would talk about, it was just kinda this nice bonus and people would keep it to themselves most of the time when they jerked off to it, rather than making sure they ritual post about how they goon to these characters every day and spamming their goon folder of the character every time they see a thread about it pop up.
I get that this is an over correction after a decade of feminists and shit trying to tone down on the sex appeal, but I feel like the pendulum has swung too far in the other direction and the focus on porn/jerking off to everything is definitely leaving me with some sorta "gooner fatigue". I'm just so fucking tired of zoomers telling everyone about how and when they're jerking off and trying to get people to join in on their goon sessions. Literally can't have a Street Fighter thread without 80% of the discussion being about gooning shit.

Outer Wilds' technical aspect is also great

A whole star system, physically simulated, all for your taking. Why are the planets so close together? Gravitational force simulation, baby, not because of a pre-programmed trajectory.
Sound design is also very non-apologetic. You ever stood under a waterfall? Deafening, right? The same happens in Outer Wilds. In so many AAA modern games, audio are auto-ducked to avoid discomfort, none of that here, as it should be. The sense of environmental rumbles are also great.
