I made a quick image to illustrate my point in the previous thread.
Lets assume you have two Ryu players in the exact same situation, one classic and one modern. They both react to a Ken player jumping and going for jHP on the exact same frame.

Giving the classic player a little room for error, since almost no one does frame perfect inputs outside of the lab, the classic player would get hit by the jHP, while the modern player would beat it with a DP, despite both of them reacting to the jump on the exact same frame.

I think this is a really shitty design flaw with how modern was implemented, and the extra scaling doesn't make up for how much of an advantage you get in neutral from modern. You can argue that its fair because they lose buttons, but that still doesn't make this a well designed mechanic.

I mean, literally everyone thinks modern is fucking annoying to deal with in neutral and the usual advice is "yeah you just can't jump against modern haha"
I assumed modern would have "input frames" or something to account for the fact that they aren't actually doing inputs, but just having it skip that shit in neutral is kind of retarded.

They could easily fix this by adding extra startup to the moves if they aren't being combo'd or cancelled into. Even 1f for each required direction would make a huge difference, but realistically it should be something like 2f per direction since thats more reasonable and doesn't make modern inputs objectively better than classic, while still giving new players the ease of access.

Modern basically ruins neutral interactions and denies the opponent the chance to slip in while they're doing the motion, which is a big part of how moves are designed to function.

It has motions technically but not really at same time. It's using a gbvs system where both simple inputs and motions are on the same scheme but there is no downsides at all to using the simple inputs so the motions are purely optics for boomers.

Look at the screen shots they just released. There is no control scheme option or any in-match icons used to signify control scheme choice.

Back when arc system had stylish mode they would give you an option for it when you picked characters just like SF6. And in match you would see a (S) by the chars health bar to signify they were using stylish mode just like Modern in SF6. In the Tokon none of this is there which means they're using GBVS system where there is one control scheme that has motions and a SP button. So game has motions technically but they provide zero strategic utility, they're just there for boomers to not have a moral panic about on social media.
