Neither side trusts Disney now, and that's worse than pandering to either side.
Audiences saw the designs and thought "oh another movie that's gonna lecture to me about gay shit" and made a decision to simply not see it.
It's just the film's plot was fucking boring and normies saw and just decided to not see it. And blaming "homophobes" for it failing is not a valid excuse.
