and I have to wonder what games he was actually playing other than dogshit JRPGs that were rightfully untranslated for 15 years because they're actually garbage. yeah no shit you're not really choosing anything in most games. his entire hack is honestly no more complex than going up to a dungeon in a game that asks "Do you want to enter the Dungeon of Doom? YES/NO" and yeah you can pick no but you know you have to pick yes to go forward with the game and no one has ever considered that being empowered, it's just the nature of video games.

i wonder if toby ever played tabletop games where you actually do have a lot of choice and can bargain with the DM. i think that would blow his mind a little
